Liaison Officer for Medical Education Issues

Michelle Lam is a medical student from the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, University of Hong Kong with an intercalated Masters of Science in Global Health Delivery from the University of Global Health Equity. She has over four years of experience in medical education from the local to international level and currently holds the role of Liaison Officer for Medical Education Issues at the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA), representing 1.5 million medical students from 128 countries
around the world.
Within her role, she collaborates with medical education partners and brings the student perspective as part of the ICAM EDI/AR Advisory Group, WFME Executive Council, and AMEE Advisory Council and Student Task Force Coordinator Team. She was previously appointed as the External Affairs Assistant of the Standing Committee on Medical Education International Team and has interests in interprofessional education and collaborative practice, educational strategies, teaching and learning styles, accreditation and quality assurance, technology in medical education, and research in medical education. As an IFMSA-certified trainer and Advocacy in Medical Education Training graduate, she is passionate about capacitating medical students to be meaningfully involved in their curriculum.
Having just attended the Ottawa 2024 conference as part of the Student Task Force, she is excited to attend ICAM 2024 and be part of the Learner Forum to highlight the importance of meaningful student involvement for an inclusive learning environment form a global learners’ perspective!
