About Dr. Daniel Kwon

Daniel is a Radiology Resident at the University of Ottawa. He completed his MSc in Chemistry, with a thesis focused on the total synthesis of polyketide natural products. He then completed his PhD at BC Cancer as part of the MD/PhD program. Daniel’s doctoral research focused on developing radiopharmaceuticals targeting CXCR4 for PET imaging and radioligand therapy.

Notably, he successfully commercialized a candidate radiopharmaceutical, which will enter clinical trials in 2024. Daniel is also currently a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania, developing methodologies for multi-tracer PET imaging in patients. Daniel’s research was supported by multiple organizations including the Canadian Institute for Health Research, IODE Canada, and the Radiological Society of North America. Daniel attended the Lindau Nobel Laureate meeting in 2023 after being nominated by the Canadian Student Health Research Forum in 2019.
