Learning objectives:

1. Identify new roles for which faculty educators require training. 
2. Describe how institutions and associations can support faculty in developing new skills. 
3. Discuss the impact of ‘upskilling’ on faculty professional identity formation. 

Faculty educators must continue to grow their expertise to keep pace with new discoveries in the field. They are also expected to take on additional educator roles for which they are often not adequately prepared. In this symposium, we discuss the need for institutions and associations, like IAMSE, to support educators to take on these new roles. We will specifically focus on adopting and utilizing new and emerging technologies in the classroom and clinical learning environments, mentoring and coaching learners, engaging in educational scholarship, and seeking leadership training for career development.
